Nikon EDG 8x42 Binocular

From Mark in TN:

5/5 Rating

I was in the market for an alpha binocular and had three from which I'd planned on choosing: the Zeiss Victory, Swarovski EL Swarovision, and the Nikon EDG.

While I was not able to physically get my hands on the Zeiss, I did get to hold and work with the Swarovski 8.5s in person. They were amazing, of course. In fact, I was going on the few reviews I could find when I chose to go with the Nikons over the Zeiss (Zeiss had a great deal going on with the Victory so it made it a tough choice - I had already eliminated the Swarovski bins from possibility). Call it a gut instinct.

I could not be happier with the EDGs - they are phenomenal. I could not have imagined just how much different my birding experience would be with glass of this quality. Color, contrast, and light gathering are all incredible. Extremely comfortable ergonomics, sharp to the very edge of the field, and precision focusing wheel.

To be fair, I truly do not think that one could go wrong with any of the above choices. The specs at this level are nearly uniform across the board, though I'm confident I've purchased the highest quality possible. With Nikon's excellent warranty and 'No Fault' policy, I believe these will be with me for the rest of my life.

Hats off to Eagle Optics. Shipping was fast and the peace of mind that comes from purchasing here is an added bonus.
