Best Travel Binoculars?!
Rating: 5 (of 5)
We often include birding when we travel, and carrying full size binoculars (42mm objective) along with my camera gear invites shoulder fatigue. I was able to handle Swarovski binoculars, Leica binoculars, and Zeiss binoculars (the 8X32 models), as well as Minox binoculars and a few other less expensive models, at a birding festival this spring.
Leica is the most compact, but has marginal eye relief for a glasses wearer like myself. The Zeiss Victory FL 8X32 felt the most comfortable, has excellent eye relief, and is lighter weight and more compact than the Swarovski. The Zeiss binoculars also felt the best in my hands. Color rendition and image clarity are unbeatable, making the switch from the larger German optics I had been using one that I will never regret.
